Managing the Kickstarter Campaign

Written on 04/2020

When I first got to play the test print of Kalewala: Tale of Sampo with Tuomas at Bastard Cafe in Copenhagen, I had no idea that I would be involved with the project later. Nevertheless, I found the project impressive and thought it could’ve been fun to be involved, though my scandinavian sense of modesty kept me quiet. My professional background involves making cultural heritage accessible in new ways, so this interactive way to retell the Kalevala stories for a new audience was of great interest to me.
Therefore it was a very happy surprise when Tuomas got in touch and asked if I could help out with running the Kickstarter campaign! I am very much looking forward to making this project happen with the help of our backers.

Another aspect that I enjoy working on is a piece about the historical painters whose work is featured in the game for the The World of Kalevala-booklet. Both Akseli Kallen-Gallela and Nikolai Mikhailovich Kochergin are fascinating artists who have produced striking work based on the poems, I am excited to help bring it to life for the board game's audience.
